First year came and flew by in a flash. University really does just come and go – way faster than high school. I remember the university application process, finally making my decision and being both excited and nervous about what the future would hold. I remember how nervous I was the first day I moved out for university.
A year that included the killing of a gorilla, mass shootings, a series of terrorist attacks, humanitarian disasters, deaths of a few celebrities, a wildfire in Alberta and president Donald Trump. Many people I’ve talked to have told me this has been one of their worse years with what’s happened in the news. As much as I sympathize with them on how terrible the events throughout the year turned out to be, this year was a year of discoveries, realizations and somehow for me.
Let me start off my saying I made it through my first month of university! The past month was a struggle, but I’m glad I managed to survive. I discovered that university is full of surprises and learning experiences, and so many things that have happened are unexpected. I don’t know where or how to start this, so I’ll just jump right in.
I have a feeling that this is either gonna be my best year or worst year – with no in between. i have my academic courses in second semester, except for biology, and all of my mixed courses in the first. This really sucks since first semester’s usually when I concentrate the most, but I don’t have a lot of work this semester. Then in the semester coming up, when my mind loosens because of summer, I have all of my easy subjects. ughhhh. I really hope that I can change my schedule from drama to chemistry this semester, so that I don’t have to have all of my hard subjects next semester. Unfortunately I already have the worst English teacher in the school.
